Frequently Asked About Scholarships
The NYS STEM Incentive Program provides tuition awards to students who are New York State residents attending a public or private degree-granting college or university located in New York State. Recipients must be in the top 10 percent of students of their high school graduating class, pursue an approved, two or four-year STEM degree program and agree to live in NYS and work in a STEM field in NYS for five years after graduation. Students need to ensure their major program is on the eligibility list of majors.
SUNY College/University Scholarships:
Scholarships specific to SUNY colleges/universities only.
Available to eligible NYS residents to attend a 2- or 4- year SUNY college tuition free.
After graduation, students who receive the scholarship, must live and work in NYS for the same duration of time that they accpeted the scholarship. If not, they will be required to back the total amount of the scholarship.
Available to eligible NYS residents to attend a participating private NYS college receiving up to $6,000 annually.

NYS Academic Excellence Scholarship:
Students can not apply for this scholarship. Each year, NYS determines number of scholarships available based on the school population. Per scholarship guidelines, students are nominated utilizing “Class Rank” from the end of their junior year. Nominees must also meet other eligibility requirements (i.e. graduate high school by end of their senior year, be a legal resident of NYS for at least one year, etc.) Eligible students are notified of their selection for this scholarship prior to the February deadline. In most cases, students must initially attend a college or university in NYS in order to receive the scholarship. Awards are renewable up to 4 years (5 years if enrolled in a 5 year program).

Career School Specific Scholarships
The Imagine America Foundation is an organization with a focus on career training, ensuring that students earn the necessary skills and job qualifications needed to be successful. The foundation offers scholarship award and grant programs.
Path to Pro Scholarship:
Due: December 31st, 2024
Amount: $2,000
Eligibility:
- Be a high school senior, graduate, or have a GED equivalent
- Plan to enroll or be enrolled in an approved technical/vocational school or college in the US
- Focused on carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or construction management
The Russell Quarentello Memorial Trades Scholarship:
Due: May 2nd, 2025
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility:
- High school graduating senior entering a recognized union apprenticeship or vocational program
- Applicant must be the child, grandchild, or legal dependent of a union member’s immediate family who works in Niagara or Orleans County
- Ex. Teachers Union, Trades Union, Nursing Union, etc
Will require union members information and signature (“sponsor”) and member of their e-board signature (“local committee chair”)
American Legion Oratorical Scholarship
What: A “constitutional speech contest” that starts at the local level and extends to the national level.
- Prepared Oration: Speech must be about some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, emphasizing citizens obligations and duties delivered in English and 8-10 minutes in length.
- Assigned Topic: Usually about a constitutional amendment testing knowledge, research, and ability to discuss a relevant topic lasting 3-5 minutes.
Who: High School students in grades 9-12 under the age of 20 (at time of national contest).
Why: A great opportunity to meet new people, develop and practice public speaking skills, and add to your resume.
Scholarship: For winners at the national level, first place – $25,000; second place – $22,500; third place – $20,000
- State level winners who participate in the first round nationally receive an additional $2,000
- First-round winners who advance to the second round but not the final round receive an additional $2,000
- May be used to attend any college/university in the U.S.

- Scholarship paid directly to the college or trade-school to be used for tuition.
NOCA Career and Technical Education Scholarship:
Due: March 5th, 2025
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility:
- Graduating senior who will be completing a two-year career and technical education program at the Niagara or Orleans CTE Center.
- Student must be pursuing additional education or training in their career field over the next year.
- Student must provide letters of recommendation from an instructor or staff member at their Niagara or Orleans CTE Center and include attendance from CTE program junior and senior year.
- Include the value of your CTE education as it relates to your career goals in your essay.
Scholarship application must be returned to Ms. Niles by March 5th for submission
NOCA Genesee Community College Scholarship:
Due: March 5th, 2025
Amount: $500 (tuition for first year; $250 first two semesters)
Eligibility:
- Graduating senior who is planning on enrolling full-time next year at an accredited two or four-year college/university
- Student must plan on enrolling full-time next year at Genesee Community College
- Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.6 at GCC for the second semester payment

NOCA Merit Scholarship:

NOCA Niagara Community College Scholarship:
Due: March 5th, 2025
Amount: $1,000 (tuition for first year; $500 for first two semesters)
Eligibility:
- Graduating senior who is planning on enrolling full-time next year at an accredited two or four-year college/university
- Student must plan on enrolling full-time next year at Niagara County Community College (SUNY Niagara)
- Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 at NCCC for the 2nd semester payment
Scholarship application must be returned to Ms. Niles by March 5th for submission
NOCA Niagara University Scholarship:
Due: March 5th, 2025
Amount: $1,500 per year for 4 years (x2)
Eligibility:
- Graduating senior who is planning on enrolling full-time next year at an accredited two or four-year college/university
- Student must plan on enrolling full-time next year at Niagara University
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 at Niagara University to remain eligible for this scholarship

NOCA Phoenix Scholarship:

Amount: $1,000
Eligibility:
- Graduating senior who is planning on enrolling full-time next year at an accredited two or four-year college/university.
- Student has achieved in the face of a pervasive and overwhelming obstacle or crisis. This can be personal or school related over which you have experienced success.
- This obstacle(s) must be addressed in the one-page essay.

WNY Safety Conference Annual Scholarship Opportunity

Eligibility:
- Graduating senior who has been accepted to a 2- or 4-year instiution for the 25-26 school year
- WNY Resident
- Be able to convey your understanding of occupational safety & health in your essay.
Hagan Scholarship
Due: March 15th , 2025
Amount: Up to $7,500 plus $2,000 for essential items for college
Eligibility:
- Must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher.
- Must enroll in eligible 4-year college or university for the first fall semester following high school graduation.
- Must maintain a 4-year or less graduation schedulle in college.

First Responder Family Scholarship
Due: March 15th, 2025
Amount: $10,000 (1); $5,000 (2); $2,500 (3)
Eligibility:
- Graduating senior who has been accepted to a 2- or 4-year instiution for the 25-26 school year
- No minimum GPA, but must be in good academic standing
- Applicant must be the child of a first responder (i.e. firefighter, police officer, EMT/paramedics, corrections officer, or 911 service dispatchers) in the WNY area.
Federated Garden Clubs of NYS Eighth District Scholarship
Due: March 15th - March 31st, 2025

Eligibility:
- Graduating senior residing in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, or Niagara County

MMB Accounting Diversity Scholarship:

Amount: 2-$2,000 (annually for up to 5 years)
Eligibility:
- Must identify with an ethnic minority.
- Must have applied to or currently attend a college in NYS offering an accounting program that would lead the student to licensure as a CPA.
- Must have accounting as their major field of study.
Willie Carney Harden Undergraduate Scholarship:

Margaret Hoch Scholarship (Delta Kappa Gamma):

Eligibility:
- Graduating female senior with a cumulative GPA of 85% or higher
- Accepted into college and pursuing a degree in education
- Have participated in a variety of school and/or community activities
