Boys & Girls State 2025

Students interested in Boys or Girls State should complete an application and return to Ms Niles in the Student Counseling Office no later than February 7th, 2025.

Brief, informal interviews, will be conducted in the counseling office on February 20th, 2025 

American Legion Oratorical Scholarship

What: A “constitutional speech contest” that starts at the local level and extends to the national level.

  • Prepared Oration: Speech must be about some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, emphasizing citizens obligations and duties delivered in English and 8-10 minutes in length
  • Assigned Topic: Usually about a constitutional amendment testing knowledge, research, and ability to discuss a relevant topic lasting 3-5 minutes

Who: Highschool students grade 9-12 under the age of 20 (at time of national contest)

Why: A great opportunity to meet new people, develop and practice public speaking skills, and add to your resume.

Scholarship: For winners at the national level, first place – $25,000; second place – $22,500; third place – $20,000

  • State level winners who participate in the first round nationally receive an additional $2,000
  • First-round winners who advance to the second round but not the final round receive an additional $2,000
  • May be used to attend any college/university in the U.S.

    Eligibility:

    • Be 13 years of age or older and a legal resident of the United States
    • Be currently attending high school, college, vocational, or any other accredited post-secondary institution.

    Due: September 30th, 2024

    Amount: $2,000

    Eligibility:

    • Be enrolled as a high school junior or senior and intend to enroll in an accredited college or unisiety located in the US, within a year of graduating high school
    • Be 17 years or older at the time of submission

  • Common App Scholarship

    Due: November 30th, 2024

    Amount: $2,000

    Eligibility:

    • Be in 11th or 12th grade
    • Be attending college or university no later than October 1, 2026
    • Have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater during their last academic year

  • Coolidge Scholarship:

    Due: December 11th, 2024

    Amount: Full Ride 4-year (can be used at any accredited college or university in the U.S.)

    Eligibility:

    • Current highschool junior
    • Planning to enroll in college Fall 2026
    • Must be an American citizen or legal permenant resident
