Students who plan on participating in either Division 1 or 2 college athletics must register with the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse. Students must meet the established NCAA Clearinghouse academic criteria for the specific division for which they plan to participate.
Students need to register online with the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse and let Mr. Smith know so that your official transcript can be mailed/uploaded to the NCAA Clearinghouse. If you financially qualify, NCAA also allows for registration fee waivers.

2018).
Div. 1 and 2 Worksheets - Download and use to determine NCAA Division 1 or 2 academic eligibility. Need to use in conjunction with NCAA approved high school course list. Note: Core-Course GPA for NCAA eligibility has nothing to do with a student's high school GPA. It is calculated by dividing the total Quality Points by the number of credits. The Quality Points are calculated by the letter grade received in a course, converted to a 4 point scale, then multiplied by the number of credits for the course. SAT or ACT test scores also play a role in eligibility. The higher the Core-Course GPA, the lower the SAT/ACT score can be, and vice versa. See the Test Score Sliding Scale Chart.
Newfane High School NCAA approved courses - Under the "Core Courses" section, select "Find your high school’s list of NCAA core courses". On this page, insert Newfane High School's School Code (333335) in either the "NCAA High School Code" spot or in the "CEEB/ACT Code" section - either one works. Only these approved courses can be used for NCAA eligibility! Not all high school courses are approved for NCAA eligibility. This is why prospective college-bound student athletes need to carefully choose their courses each year. In general: Typically, Regents level/Regents track, college, and AP courses, only in the subject areas of: English, Social Studies, Science, Math, and Foreign Language, are ones that are approved. Again, refer to approved NCAA course list for Newfane HS. Plot these courses on the Division 1 or 2 worksheet (see worksheet downloads above) to make sure you have the required number of courses in each area on the worksheets.
